Industrial facilities all require fire prevention, management, containment and environmental separation facilities.
The project brief for an industrial plant, was to develop and lead the Civil engineering contractor and specialist fire systems engineering contractors, as an integrate design team. The basis of design was to ensure the facilities design incorporated the fire monitoring, deluge coverage, collection, containment and separation of product, for hazardous zones within the site facilities.
The project had specific challenges of geology, that required the site infrastructure to be piled supported. The optimum design solution defined a site network of deep concrete culvert deluge collection, storage and separation facilities.
The design was conducted in accordance fire deluge and flood containment volumes, in accordance with Wallingford design codes and channel flow hydraulic design, for calculating flood volumes, concentrating and containment.
Critical success of the project was the design coordination, which ensured optimum integration of the site infrastructure piling arrangement to minimise construction, cost and schedule.
