Process cooling water – Pipelines replacement

The scope was to replace a 40-year-old refinery salt water cooling pipeline system, that had corroded and had for many years been patched, but was now classified as a significant risk to the safe operations of the refinery.

The scope required the temporary installation of large bore Poly pipe 16-inch cooling lines to be safely installed around a live site to the saltwater pump house, allowing termination, removal and reinstatement of 4km 16” steel pipelines.

The project required extensive planning, engineering, fabrication quality control and integration within the operations shut down windows.

Key successes of this project was the ability to keep the refinery operations live, supporting the downstream business, delivering the efficient engineering- fabrication and installation scope with no safety incidents and within schedule and budget.
