Commissioning of major pipeline infrastructure and associated facilities requires meticulous planning. Early planning for operations was key to the success of the start-up. Operations, integrity and maintenance teams and regimes were established early in the design phase of the project working pro-actively with the project to start-up on schedule. Training of operations teams, engineers and technicians was performed throughout the project so that commissioning and early operations could proceed smoothly and safely – start-up and stay-up.
Common factors in the success were the vision, the management of risk, the open dialogue between Project and Operations and a One Team culture
